Reimagining Responsibility<\/h4>\n

At Citizen, we’re not just reimagining our work and how to get results for our clients, we’re reimagining what it means to be a responsible business. As a purpose-led PR agency, we’re aiming for net zero emissions by 2040, empowering employee volunteerism, and championing equity and inclusion. We believe impactful communication starts with a commitment to people AND planet, and we’re dedicated to building a better future for all.<\/p>\n

Net Zero: The Countdown Begins<\/h4>\n

At Citizen, we are dedicated to reaching net zero emissions by 2040 and inspiring others to follow. We began actively measuring our carbon footprint in 2023 to gain a better understanding of our overall operations, emissions hotspots, and key areas for reduction. To achieve net zero, we\u2019re leading by example and taking specific steps including: transitioning to 100% renewable electricity by 2030, optimizing energy efficiency in offices, prioritizing suppliers with sustainable practices, opting for low-impact business travel options, and so, so much more. As communications leaders, we can\u2019t wait to support clients in shaping authentic net zero narratives. A better tomorrow begins today. Social Impact<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As global Citizens, we don\u2019t just want to make great work \u2013 we want to do great for the world. That\u2019s why we take on initiatives like Plus for Good, a collaborative effort across Plus Co (our parent company) to give paid time off so our team can volunteer for causes we care about. In 2024 alone, we empowered 125 Citizens to actively volunteer and donated $12,500 to our chosen causes. From beach clean-ups with the California State Department of Park and Recreation to park clean-ups with GrowNYC to shoreline clean-ups with Oceanwise, we sought to leave places better than we found them. And we can\u2019t wait to keep showing up for our communities.<\/p>\n

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion<\/h4>\n

Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) aren\u2019t just mandates or quotas. They\u2019re cornerstones of our business. We wouldn\u2019t be a purpose-led PR agency without them. Which is why we channel our efforts to upholding EDI internally and externally. For us, this looks like fostering an anti-racist workplace culture, addressing barriers in recruiting, conducting EDI surveys, and always dedicating ourselves to learning and unlearning about systemic inequities. Deconstructing discrimination requires resources and time \u2013 and we\u2019re happy to put in the work. Every Citizen belongs here.
